Kilmarnock Graduation 2019: Student of the Year for Engineering and Science

October 16, 2019 - Martin Currie

It means a lot to be recognised for my hard work

Agata Chmielewska, HND Mechanical Engineering

Before I came to college I worked as a line worker in a factory. I came to college to gain engineering knowledge and improve my English.

I was a bit concerned about the language barrier.  However, I enjoyed everything about the course. It was a good mix of theoretical and practical, and I gained many engineering skills.

I feel like I developed as a person. As well as improving my language skills, I feel I have improved my confidence.

It feels amazing to have won this award! It means a lot to be recognised for my hard work.

I now have a modern apprenticeship and so I’m now doing a Performing Engineering Operations course at Ayrshire College.

I hope to finish the apprenticeship programme, qualify as a mechanical engineer, and perhaps apply to be a college lecturer myself one day!

Ayrshire College is a great place to move your career forward.
