Kilwinning Graduation 2019: Student of the Year for Hair, Beauty, Make-up and Complementary Therapies

October 31, 2019 - Jane Moore

Studying at Ayrshire College has been a life changing experience for me.

                                                                      Bhupinder Kaur, HND Complementary Therapies

Going to college was a huge step for me. I’ve always had an interest in complementary therapies, and already have a degree from university in India, but I had lost my confidence over the years.

My partner works away from home, so I had a huge responsibility for my son’s care as I have no family nearby. These were all considerations coming back to Ayrshire College, but it was the first step in getting my confidence back.

I was inspired and guided by my lecturers. They have a wealth of knowledge and they encouraged me to explore beyond course content and into different areas of research.

The course involved hands-on practical work and case studies. There was a lot of theory and written exams and open book projects. It helped me to rediscover my potential, my passion and commitment to help others during my time at college.

I am so pleased to have won this award; this has made me believe in hard work even more. I would like to thank all of my Lecturers for their constant encouragement.

I am now a qualified CAM practitioner in the third year of the BSc Integrated Healthcare at the University of Highlands and Islands, and have started my own business.

Studying at Ayrshire College has been a life changing experience for me. It has fantastic facilities, very good staff and is a true equal opportunity provider. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the College for the new path I am on now.
