Michael Ross
Non-Executive Board Member
Born and raised in Ayrshire, Michael Ross is deeply committed to creating opportunities for individuals and organisations within the regional economy. He shares Ayrshire College’s vision and values, believing in the transformative power of education to make Ayrshire a leading destination for learning, living, investment, and employment.
With over two decades of experience in the built environment, Michael brings extensive expertise to the board. He is the Chief Executive of hub South West, a collaborative venture formed by the Scottish Government, public sector bodies, and private sector partners. The company focuses on delivering public sector projects across South West Scotland while fostering skills development, employment opportunities, and local SME growth. Under his leadership, hub South West has successfully delivered over £1 billion worth of projects, including significant developments in Ayrshire.
Before joining hub South West, Michael worked in the investment arm of a major organisation specialising in Public Private Partnership projects, managing a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK, including several years in London.
Michael holds an honours degree in Business Management and a master’s degree in Project Management. He is dedicated to leveraging his industry experience to support Ayrshire College in achieving its objectives and realising its strategic vision.
