Alistair Rodgers

Director - Institute of Productivity and Innovation

Alistair Rodgers was appointed Director of Institute of Productivity and Innovation at Ayrshire College in April 2026, following his two year role as Director of Enterprise Development. Alistair brings more than 20 years of experience in the further education sector. His career began as an Engineering Apprentice in Manufacturing Engineering, during which time he completed an honours degree in Manufacturing Engineering on a part-time basis. His transition to education saw him take up the role of Engineering Lecturer at Anniesland College, where he advanced through various roles before becoming Head of Engineering at Glasgow Clyde College in 2013.

Throughout his career, Alistair has focused on employer engagement, ensuring that apprenticeship training and skills development meet the needs of employers. He has managed several major contracts, generating additional income for the college and contributing to national curriculum developments. Alistair has also represented the college on numerous external committees, including the Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce.

In his current role, Alistair oversees a broad range of disciplines including Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace and Net- Zero Infrastructure.
