Entry Requirements

To study on this course, you'll need:

  • a genuine interest in working in engineering
  • minimum grade C in Higher Maths and/or Physics OR
  • Relevant NC course at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent (eg NC Electrical Engineering and Electronics, NC Manufacturing Engineering)
  • An interview with us

Course Content

Explore the world of electronics and mechanical engineering with our HNC Mechatronics course. Learn about the design of products and manufacturing processes, and synchronising mechanical structures with electronic control.

The main areas of study include: Mechatronic Systems, Robotics & Animatronics, Interfacing Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Applications of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), CAD for Engineers and Programming.

During your studies, you'll gain hands-on experience - we have recently invested in collaborative robots, PLCs from Siemens, and SMC training rigs to help you learn about all the main areas of automation engineering. Develop skills in analysis, troubleshooting, design, technical documentation, operation, and programming.
