Course Content
Develop practical welding skills through our hands-on Evening Welding Classes, designed for individuals at novice, intermediate, and skilled levels. Participants can gain experience in MIG/MAG, MMA (Manual Metal Arc), and TIG welding processes, with instruction tailored to their existing level of competence.
Each session begins with essential workshop health and safety guidance and familiarisation with welding equipment and machinery. Participants will then progress through practical welding exercises designed to build confidence, improve technique, and develop industry-relevant skills.
- Novice learners will be introduced to basic welding techniques, focusing on producing fillet welds (MIG/MAG and MMA) or corner joint welds (TIG) in the down-hand position.
- Intermediate learners will build on existing skills, progressing from fillet or corner joint welds to producing butt welds in mild steel in the down-hand position.
- Skilled welders will enhance their capability by developing vertical-position butt welding techniques in mild steel, refining precision and control in more challenging welding applications.
This practical course provides an excellent opportunity for hobbyists, aspiring welders, and those looking to refresh or enhance their welding skills within a supportive workshop environment. This course supports the development of core fabrication and welding competencies that can be applied in engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and related industries.
Progression
Successful participants may progress to a BS 4872 welder testing course, providing formal recognition of practical welding skills and enhancing employability within the engineering and manufacturing industries.
