Overview
Start Date: Tuesday 20 October 2026. Induction: Friday 9 October 2026. In just 10 weeks, you can gain essential skills for a rewarding career in the engineering sector. You will receive hands-on training and experience of an industry that has lots of opportunities in Ayrshire.
Candidates are expected to be engaged in learning 3 days per week for the duration of the 10-week course, and placements will be provided subject to technical competence and adequate attendance.
For successful candidates at the appropriate level of technical competence, a further 2 full weeks of work-experience will be provided at a local aerospace employer. For candidates requiring technical skills development a further course of study will be encouraged, and work experience will be arranged when this would be of optimal benefit.

Entry Requirements
Candidates must live in Ayrshire. There are no qualification or skills requirements for this course, but it would be beneficial for candidates to have prior technical experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate how any previous experience and hand-skills would be transferrable into the aeronautical engineering industry. Motivation, and commitment to learn and work in this rewarding sector are essential for all applicants.

Further Information
This course is fully funded by the Ayrshire Skills Investment Fund and is open to individuals residing in Ayrshire who are not currently in work. Data provided within the course application will be collected by North Ayrshire Council as administrators of the Fund and shared with Ayrshire College as a delivery partner.
