Overview
START ANYTIME - This SVQ Level 3 in Barbering at SCQF Level 6 covers areas such as designing and creating facial hair shapes using advanced techniques, providing shaving services using a straight razor with single use blades, and more.Cost
£2,750 (Payment Plan options available, please contact our finance department for further information). Full funding is available through the New Flexible Workforce Development Fund (NFWDF) subject to individual eligibility. Please note, the NFWDF requires you to discuss your application with your employer before applying.
What's Involved?
Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) recognise competence in job-related skills and are based on National Occupational Standards.
This SVQ covers areas such as designing and creating facial hair shapes using advanced techniques; providing shaving services using a straight razor with single use blades; relaxing hair permanently and planning, preparing and participating in competitions in the hair, barbering, make-up and nails sectors.
This qualification has been designed in partnership with the Skillsactive/HABIA — the sector skills council — to ensure relevance to the sector.
Course Content
The SVQ in Barbering at SCQF level 6 consists of 5 mandatory units and 9 optional units.
This SVQ is suitable for:
- individuals who are currently in employment as a junior stylist and who wish to obtain a formal qualification.
- employees who wish to obtain short, continuing professional development courses.
Upon successful completion, learners will gain an international recognised qualification which guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully.
