Do you love the idea of working with plants? The world of horticulture opens doors to diverse careers in gardening, landscaping, tree surgery, and agriculture. We partner with the Dean Estate in Kilmarnock to provide you with hands-on experience and real projects.
Entry Requirements
To study on this course youl'll require:
- A genuine interest in working outdoors.
- Three National 4s or equivalent OR a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 4.
- An interview with us.

Course Content
Embark on a journey to enhance your horticultural skills. You will learn various garden skills and explore topics like plant propagation, woody plant care, soil types, turf maintenance, and hard landscaping techniques. There is a strong emphasis on sustainability and working with nature.
Next Steps and Career Opportunities
After this course, you could:
- Progress to a Level 6 course, potentially leading to HNC/D level in the future at SRUC.
- Become self-employed in garden maintenance/landscaping.
- Seek employment with local estates and companies.
