Overview

Access to Life Sciences (SWAP) Level 6 is an intensive course which will prepare hard working candidates for pursuing scientific careers or progressing onto further study in science in Higher Education.

Entry Requirements

For entry to this course, you will need one of the following:

  • Biology or Chemistry at National 5 or above
  • Completion of the relevant Level 5 Science course at Kilmarnock or Kilwinning campus
  • Relevant previous experience of, or interest in, Science

Course Content

The course covers theory and practical work from a broad range of science topics from the Biology and Chemistry subject areas, as well as Communications.

The assessment includes practical assessment with associated written reports, maintenance of a technical lab diary, written end of unit exams and oral presentations.

Careers and Further Study

Successful completion of this course would allow candidates to progress onto HNC Applied Science or a range of degree programmes at university, or to seek relevant employment in scientific industries.
