Overview

This course will prepare you for the Higher English qualification. As this is a fast-track course, it suits independent, self-motivated students who can dedicate 3-6 hours per week additional study outside college.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements - minimum entry requirements for Higher are National 5 English with B grade or above or equivalent After you have applied, you will be sent course information and a link to complete a short written test in English. This is to check suitability for the course. Please note that due to the high level of challenge presented by National Courses, and the significant demand for these programmes, the above represents the minimum entry requirements. Not all applicants who meet the minimum entry will be offered a place on a course.

Course Content

You will develop listening, talking, reading and writing skills to understand and use language. You will also develop your understanding of the complexities of language by studying a wide range of texts. The course also develops high levels of analytical thinking and understanding of the impact of language.

Careers and Further Study

This qualification can be a springboard into a whole range of courses throughout the college, such as social science, early years education, health and social care, sport and fitness, creative industries, and many more. It is also an ideal qualification to add to your CV.
