Overview

If you've just left school, are a Christmas leaver or have been unemployed for a short period of time, the HIVE at Ayrshire College could be ideal for you.

At HIVE (Hope, Inspiration and Vision in Education), we understand school does not suit everyone. We promise you'll find college life quite different. What's important now is you do something positive and move forward with your life.

On the 24/7 course we'll give you plenty of support so you can think about what you want to do, and develop the skills and confidence you need to get there. For entry to 24/7, you do not need to have any formal qualifications - just come in for a chat with us and we'll help you take your first step into college.

Entry Requirements

To join Bridge to College - Stage 1:

  • Turn 16 before 28 February
  • Be released from your Educational Authority (e.g., North/South/East Ayrshire Council)
  • No interviews! Just come in for a chat, and we'll share more about the exciting opportunities this course offers.

Course Content

During this course, you may:

  • Explore the learner journey to discover available services and plan your next steps.
  • Dive into citizenship: understanding how you can make a positive impact on your community.
  • Focus on health and wellbeing: learning to improve your health, stay positive, and boost self-confidence.
  • Express your creativity: through various art forms, from posters to paintings.
  • Explore relationships: Understanding how to foster and maintain healthy connections.
  • Engage in outdoor learning: contributing to community projects.
  • Build transferable essential skills: like communication, numeracy, ICT, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Additionally, enjoy FREE visits and trips linked to course themes, such as the Glasgow Science Centre, Riverside (Transport) Museum, pantomimes, shows, parks, and more.
