Students’ success celebrated at Ayrshire College

Everyone at Ayrshire College was delighted to host three in-house Excellence Award ceremonies for the first time since 2019.

The Excellence Awards are a real highlight of the Ayrshire College calendar and have been sorely missed over the past few years due to Covid-19 restrictions on events.

Students on non-advanced courses at the College are recognised at the Excellence Awards, with lecturers nominating one student per class group to be invited to the celebration.

Across all three campus events, around 180 students were chosen to receive the special recognition in front of college staff and invited guests.

Hosted by Ayrshire College Vice Principal Anne Campbell, the events saw each student receive their certificate of excellence from Principal Carol Turnbull, to rapturous applause from their peers.

Anne Campbell, Vice Principal – Curriculum at Ayrshire College, said: “These events were always the highlight of our college year, but it seems even more special this year, given that it’s the first time that we’ve been able to hold the event in-person in three years. We are delighted, therefore, to celebrate the achievements of our students along with those of the wider college, and to reflect on the exceptional talent we have in Ayrshire.

“I am always so very proud of our students and constantly amazed by the stories of learners who have overcome significant challenges and difficulties during their time at college. I would like to thank our students for being great ambassadors for Ayrshire College and most of all, for their hard work, dedication and tremendous achievements throughout the year.”

Photographs from the events at Ayr, Kilmarnock and Kilwinning are now available to view on Ayrshire College’s Flickr account.
