To mark Pride Day on 28 June, Ayrshire College proudly hosted a Pride Flag Signing event on 27 June, bringing together partners from across the Ayrshire Equality Partnership to celebrate and reaffirm their commitment to the LGBTQ+ community.

The event saw participation from a wide range of partners, including representatives from the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (Kilwinning Fire Station), The Terrence Higgins Trust, Ayrshire College staff, and the Ayrshire College Student Association. Members of the College’s Senior Leadership Team, Doreen Wales and Jennifer Anderson, also joined the celebration and added their signatures to the Pride flag.

The signing of the Pride flag symbolised a collective pledge to continue fostering a culture of equality, respect, and inclusion across Ayrshire. It was a powerful moment of unity and visibility, demonstrating the College’s ongoing support for its LGBTQ+ students, staff, and wider community.

Charlotte Mitchell, Ayrshire College’s Equality and Diversity Performance Lead said: "This event is a meaningful reminder of the importance of standing together in support of our LGBTQ+ community. We are proud to work alongside our Ayrshire Equality Partners to champion equality and ensure everyone feels safe, valued, and celebrated at Ayrshire College and within our local communities."

The signed flag will be displayed prominently on campus as a symbol of solidarity and pride.
