Ayrshire College recently hosted its annual Excellence Awards ceremonies, recognising the outstanding achievements of more than 200 students studying on full-time and short full-time courses up to SCQF Level 7.

Individual award ceremonies took place at each of our campuses in May 2025 where students were presented with a certificate as recognition of their outstanding achievements.

Curriculum areas selected one student from each course, or course group, to receive an award based on their performance and effort throughout the year.

The Royal Aeronautical Society Award, sponsored by the Prestwick branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society, was presented to Aidan Dore, a 27-year-old SVQ Performing Engineering Operations – Aeronautical (Ayr Campus) student.

Alistair Aird, Curriculum Quality Manager for Aeronautical Engineering at Ayrshire College, said: “This award recognises Aidan’s exceptional work ethic and attitude throughout his time in the workshop. Everything that he completed was to a very high standard and all of Aidan’s lecturers praised the way he applied himself in classes and lead by example. They agree that Aidan will go on to be a truly asset to his employer, Spirit Aerosystems.”

The Shining Star Awards celebrate one student from each campus who has gone ‘above and beyond’ in their studies. These students, who have been cared for by Inclusive Learning, were nominated by the Student Experience Team, celebrating the outstanding efforts of three hard working students.

This year’s Shining Star Award winners were: Drew McCleave (Kilmarnock Campus), Kalem Millar (Kilwinning Campus) and Laura Bell (Ayr Campus).

Anne Campbell, Vice Principal - Skills and Enterprise, said: “The Excellence Awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of Ayrshire College students. These events not only celebrate individual achievements but also highlight the supportive and enriching environment fostered within the College.”
