Ayrshire College has continued to build its international partnership with Durham College in Canada, advancing innovation in teaching and learning through the use of immersive technologies.

The collaboration focuses on enhancing workforce development by integrating cutting-edge mixed reality tools into the curriculum. A key feature of this work includes the use of a 3D aircraft turbine engine model, enabling learners to explore, interact with, and virtually disassemble complex systems in a highly engaging and practical way.

This innovative approach supports the development of industry-relevant skills while improving learner engagement and understanding of technical concepts. It also reflects a shared commitment between both institutions to align education with the evolving needs of industry.

The partnership has been supported through the Scottish Educational Exchange Programme, providing opportunities for knowledge exchange, staff collaboration, and the sharing of best practice in digital learning and teaching.

By combining expertise in workforce training and immersive technology, Ayrshire College and Durham College are helping to prepare learners for the future world of work, while strengthening international collaboration in further education.

As the partnership continues to develop, both colleges aim to expand the use of immersive learning and explore further opportunities for joint innovation, ensuring learners benefit from forward-thinking, globally connected education.
