Students from Ayrshire College’s Building Future Pathways programme have demonstrated their creativity, teamwork and community spirit by organising a successful craft fair in support of the charity Beautiful Inside and Out SCIO.

As part of developing their employability skills, the students planned and delivered the event from start to finish. They took responsibility for organising the craft fair, marketing the event across campus, and working as a customer service team on the day. The fair featured a range of handmade crafts created by the students themselves, alongside a raffle with donated prizes that helped draw strong support from both the college and the wider community.

Through their hard work and dedication, the students raised an impressive £242.65 for their chosen charity. The donation will help fund six counselling sessions, providing vital support for individuals who need it.

The charity Beautiful Inside and Out SCIO works to save lives, support those bereaved by suicide, and empower young people by promoting self-worth, confidence and mental wellbeing. Its services include counselling, play therapy and sound therapy, offering a safe and supportive environment for those in need.

The event was supported by staff members Dee-Dee Dewar, Student Experience, Careers and Employability Advisor, and Joe Donovan, Lecturer in Essential Skills, Supported Learning & ESOL, who helped manage the stall and support students throughout the day.

The initiative brought students together to lead a fantastic charity event, showcasing their creativity, teamwork and commitment to making a positive difference.

Founder of the charity, Pauline Moriarty, expressed her appreciation for the students’ support.

We are incredibly grateful to the students at Ayrshire College for choosing to support Beautiful Inside and Out. Their fundraising will directly help provide counselling sessions for people who need support during difficult times. It’s inspiring to see young people coming together to raise awareness and make such a positive difference in their community.

The funds raised by the Building Future Pathways students have now been donated to Beautiful Inside and Out SCIO, ensuring their efforts will have a meaningful and lasting impact.
