GE Aerospace has announced a £30 million investment in its Prestwick operations as part of a wider £57 million project linked to the Ayrshire Growth Deal.

The announcement is significant news for Ayrshire's aerospace sector, with the expansion expected to create around 150 new jobs over the next five years.

As part of its wider commitment to developing local aerospace skills, GE Aerospace has also announced a £75,000 donation to Ayrshire College, supporting around 150 students and apprentices.

The funding will support the purchase of eight GUNT Centrifugal Pump Assemblies and associated tooling for our Aeronautical Engineering Department, giving students access to new industry-standard equipment as part of their learning.

The donation will also support further aerospace training, with more information to follow as plans develop.

Alistair Rodgers, Assistant Principal, Aerospace, Advanced Engineering and Clean Growth said:

This is fantastic news for Prestwick, for Ayrshire's aerospace industry and for the College.

GE Aerospace's investment is a real demonstration of confidence in the region and in Ayrshire College, and we're delighted that developing local skills forms part of those plans.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new equipment in use and the opportunities this investment will create for our students and apprentices.

Andy Prow, GE Aerospace in Prestwick site leader, added:

We’re proud to support the development of local aerospace talent and help open more routes into high-skilled careers. By investing in learning and training opportunities, we can help equip the next generation with the skills needed to succeed in a fast-changing industry.
