Ayrshire College is supporting National Hate Crime Awareness Week through a series of informative broadcasts on Essential Radio, helping to raise awareness of hate crime and promote a culture of respect, inclusion and belonging.
The broadcasts feature conversations between Charlotte Mitchell and campus police liaison officer Frank Lynch, exploring topics including what hate crime is, the impact it can have on individuals and communities, how to report concerns, and the support available to those affected.
The series also encourages listeners to consider the role we all play in challenging discriminatory behaviour and creating welcoming environments where everyone feels safe and valued.
Discussions cover important issues such as recognising hate crime, addressing harmful language and understanding why incidents should never be dismissed as "just banter".
As an institution committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, Ayrshire College recognises the importance of raising awareness and providing accessible information that helps people understand their rights, responsibilities and the support available to them. The Essential Radio series contributes to these conversations and reinforces the message that hate crime has no place in our communities.
The broadcasts will air throughout National Hate Crime Awareness Week and the following week on Essential Radio. Take a few minutes to listen. Share what you've learned. Challenge prejudice when you see it. Together, we can help create communities where hate has no place and everyone feels safe, respected and included.
Recognise it. Report it. Help stop hate.
