Ayrshire College’s HIVE, Supported Learning and ESOL Team has received national recognition after representing Scotland at the prestigious UK King’s Trust Awards in London.

The team earned their place among the UK finalists after winning the Community Impact Award in Scotland, highlighting the positive difference they are making for learners across Ayrshire.

The awards, held at the Royal Albert Hall as part of The King’s Trust 50th anniversary celebrations, brought together inspiring young people and organisations from across the UK to celebrate achievement, resilience and community impact.

In a further honour, the Ayrshire College team was invited to attend the King’s Garden Party during the anniversary celebrations.

Representing the College were Employability & Engagement Officers Robert McCorriston and Jacqueline McFadzean, alongside Marjorie Gracie from The King’s Trust.

While the team did not take home the UK title, reaching the national finals recognised the impact of their work in helping learners overcome barriers, build confidence and move towards positive futures.

Robert McCorriston said:

It was a privilege to represent Ayrshire College and our students at these prestigious national events. To see the achievements of our learners recognised on a UK stage was incredibly rewarding and something the whole Ayrshire community can be proud of.

Jacqueline McFadzean added:

Meeting inspirational young people and organisations from across the country was an unforgettable experience. Our students continue to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve incredible things, and it was fantastic to see that recognised nationally.

The recognition reflects Ayrshire College’s commitment to widening opportunities and helping people develop the skills, confidence and support they need to succeed. It also highlights the College’s role as an anchor institution, working with partners to create opportunities that help communities across Ayrshire thrive.

For the HIVE, Supported Learning and ESOL Team, national recognition is not only a celebration of their work but of the achievements of the learners whose determination and progress continue to inspire those around them.
