Ayrshire College is helping to build the skilled workforce needed to support jobs and drive economic growth across the region.
More than 150 students were recognised at the College’s annual Excellence Awards, held across its Kilwinning, Ayr and Kilmarnock campuses. The awards celebrate learners who are developing the skills, knowledge and confidence that local employers rely on.
Students studying on full-time and short-term courses from foundation to advanced technical level are progressing into employment, further training and higher study. In doing so, they are strengthening key sectors across Ayrshire and supporting long-term regional growth.
Ayrshire College works closely with employers and partners to ensure its courses reflect the needs of industry. Students gain hands-on experience through workshops, placements and real-world projects, helping them build the practical skills and work-ready attitudes needed to succeed.
This approach supports people into positive destinations while helping businesses access the skilled workforce they need.
The Excellence Awards ceremonies were hosted by Principal and Chief Executive Angela Cox and Vice Principal Sara Rae, bringing together students and staff to celebrate achievement. Each curriculum area selected one student from each course group based on their performance, progress and commitment throughout the academic year. The awards also recognise students’ contribution to College life and their readiness to take the next step in their careers.
Highlighting the calibre of students in the Creative, Hair, Beauty and Complementary Therapies programmes, Johnnie O’Byrne, Curriculum Quality Manager at Ayrshire College, said:
These awards celebrate the dedication, professionalism and achievements our students have demonstrated throughout the year. Their success shows the real impact of investing in skills and education.
Our students leave with the knowledge, confidence and practical experience employers value, ready to make a meaningful contribution to the workforce and the wider economy.
Angela Cox, Principal and Chief Executive of Ayrshire College, said:
Ayrshire College exists to support people, employers and communities to succeed.
Our students are the future workforce of Ayrshire. They have shown determination, ambition and the ability to adapt, and they are exactly the people local industries need to grow and thrive.
