Young people from secondary schools across Ayrshire came together at Cumnock Juniors Football Ground to raise awareness of violence against women and girls and demonstrate their commitment to creating safer, more respectful communities.
The White Ribbon Pan Ayrshire event, organised by the three Ayrshire Violence Against Women Partnerships, brought pupils together to learn more about gender-based violence, sign the White Ribbon Pledge and consider the role they can play in challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours.
As a partner in the Violence Against Women Partnerships across Ayrshire, Ayrshire College was proud to support the event. The College's Careers and Employability team also attended, giving pupils the opportunity to explore future education and career pathways.
The event used the power of sport to engage young people in important conversations about respect, equality and positive relationships. Alongside taking part in a football tournament, pupils were encouraged to reflect on how they can be active allies in preventing violence against women and girls.
Charlotte Michell, Equality and Diversity Performance Lead at Ayrshire College, said:
This is a fantastic opportunity to bring young people together to raise awareness of violence against women and girls and to pledge to call out inappropriate behaviours by being male allies.
By working together with partners across Ayrshire, the event helped equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to challenge unacceptable behaviour and contribute to a culture of respect.
Supporting initiatives such as the White Ribbon campaign reflects Ayrshire College's commitment to equality, inclusion and creating positive opportunities for individuals and communities across the region.
