From determination to a career in nursing

Chidinma’s time at Ayrshire College was a challenging, rewarding and transformative journey. Balancing her studies with childcare and family responsibilities, she showed incredible resilience and determination to complete her course and take the next step towards her career in nursing.

The support of her personal tutor, Belinda Emmens, along with her family, friends and wider community, helped Chidinma stay focused and believe in herself throughout her studies.

Overcoming challenges

Balancing academic work, childcare and other responsibilities was not always easy. Chidinma overcame these challenges by staying organised, managing her time carefully and asking for support when she needed it.

Her journey also helped her develop greater confidence and resilience, proving to herself that she could overcome obstacles and achieve her goals.

One of her proudest achievements was simply having the strength to keep going and complete her course despite the difficulties she faced along the way.

Finding her voice

As a class ambassador, Chidinma developed her communication and leadership skills while representing her classmates and making sure their voices were heard.

The role gave her the confidence to take on responsibility and discover an interest in leadership – skills that she will carry with her into her future career.

Her placement was another highlight, giving her the opportunity to develop and practise clinical skills and put her classroom learning into practice.

Chidinma's advice
