Gavin Murray

Gavin Murray is the Assistant Principal of Skills and Innovation at Ayrshire College, overseeing a broad range of disciplines including Construction Technology and Trades, Engineering (including Aeronautical), Motor Vehicle, Land, Science, Business, Computing, and Travel and Tourism.

With over 17 years of experience in Further Education in Scotland, Gavin has spent 11 years as a senior strategic leader at Ayrshire College. Prior to his career in education, he worked for 17 years in Manufacturing, starting as an Apprentice Toolmaker with a local engineering company and eventually becoming Head of Continuous Improvement across two sites in Scotland. 

Gavin holds qualifications in mechanical engineering, teaching within Further Education, and business improvement techniques, including Lean Systems from the University of Kentucky, USA. He is passionate about the college sector and is committed to the success of its students, staff, and the wider community. His leadership in skills and innovation continues to drive excellence and opportunity across Ayrshire College.
