Sara Rae
Vice Principal of Skills and Enterprise
Sara Rae is Vice Principal of Skills and Enterprise at Ayrshire College, with over 25 years of experience in the college sector. Throughout her career, Sara has held senior roles spanning learning, teaching, skills, and innovation, consistently driving change and collaboration across the sector.
Before joining Ayrshire College, Sara was Assistant Principal at West College Scotland, where she led on curriculum delivery, business development, skills, and learning technology. She played a pivotal role in establishing several sector-wide forums across innovation, enterprise and employer engagement.
Sara’s influence extends beyond the College. She is a member of the Scottish Funding Council’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee and the Research Commercialisation Directors Group. She also represents the college sector on key national and regional bodies, including Skills Development Scotland’s Scottish Apprenticeship Advisory Board – Employer Engagement Group. Locally, Sara is Chair of the Skills workstream of the Ayrshire Regional Economic Partnership and is a member of North Ayrshire Council’s Senior Officers’ Group.
