SAI Aerospace Training Ltd - Board of Management

SAI Aerospace Training Limited (SC813576) is a private limited company established to deliver first class training and education in the aerospace sector.

Join SAI as a member of the Board of Management

SAI Aerospace Training Ltd, based in Prestwick, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join its Board of Management. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and governance of a recently approved UK Civil Aviation Authority Part 147 Training provider at the heart of Scotland’s aerospace sector.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong financial background—such as experience in financial management, accounting, audit, or strategic financial planning—ideally within the aviation or wider engineering sector.

Alongside proven leadership skills and sound judgement, you will support oversight of financial performance, risk management, and long-term sustainability. If you are committed to making a meaningful impact within a forward-thinking organisation, we would welcome your interest in this rewarding position.

The Board of Management has a pivotal role in achieving our ambition for SAI Aerospace Training Ltd, which is to deliver first class training and education in the aerospace sector. The company is structured to provide degree-level aerospace training, aligning with Ayrshire College’s broader educational mission.  SAI Aerospace Training Ltd functions as a trading entity distinct from the College, allowing for more flexible commercial operations, including aircraft acquisition and financial planning.  This is achieved through strong collaboration and partnership working and by investing in, and valuing, our staff and students.

As a Member of the Board, you will commit to a public service role, provide leadership and strategic direction, demonstrate excellence in corporate governance, and inspire staff to deliver the highest standards of learning and teaching. Board members also have a crucial role in engaging with key stakeholders, businesses, and employers in Ayrshire and beyond. You are expected to act as public ambassadors and advocates for SAI Aerospace Training Ltd, valuing and respecting diversity and promoting an ethos of inclusion, equality, and positive well-being.

The time commitment is approximately 105 hours per year, with hybrid meetings held mainly afternoon/early evening, time for reading meeting papers, for team building and for self-development.

The initial appointment would normally be four years, with potential for a second term of three years. There is no remuneration for the post, however reasonable expenses will be reimbursed, and IT equipment loaned as required.
