Cake Baking and Decorating
This course is on a Tuesday evening at Ayr Campus and a Thursday evening at Kilmarnock Campus, from 6pm to 9pm. These times include a period for shut down procedures at the end of the night.
The course runs for 12 weeks.
Have you been inspired by the “Great British Bake Off” and would love the chance to add a more professional touch to your baking skills?
You don’t need any formal qualifications, just a container for your finished products, an apron to protect your clothing, a tea towel and appropriate footwear for the kitchen.
This 12 week course is an SQA recognised Cake Baking Award, giving you the knowledge and skills to carry out cake baking processes to current industry standards.
It’s a hugely enjoyable class in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Over the 12 weeks of this course, you will bake a variety of cakes including Swiss rolls, Maderia cake, fruit cakes, Victoria sponge, biscuits and tray bakes. You will also be taught different decorating techniques and finishings. The lecturer will demonstrate each element and you will get the opportunity to ask plenty of questions.
On successful completion, you’ll be awarded an SQA Level 5 certificate.
