Entry Requirements
To join this exciting course, bring your:
- genuine interest in electrical engineering
- four National 5s, including Mathematics or Physics, or equivalent. Alternatively, a relevant Level 5 course, like Introduction to Electrical Engineering with Renewables or SVQ Performing Engineering Operations - Electrical

Course Content
Immerse yourself in a dynamic mix of practical skills and theory. Get ready to:
- learn electrical principles, from basics to High Voltage (HV) generators
- explore fundamental electrical circuit elements and cable ratings
- understand the dangers of overcurrent in a circuit, including cable current capacity and overcurrent protection devices
- dive into earthing techniques and earth fault current protection
- develop skills in installing PVC sheathed wiring systems and fabricating/installing trunking systems
- master Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and create programs for industrial processes
- gain expertise in using electrical test equipment for safe and accurate measurements
- study maths in an engineering context and enhance IT skills with relevant software packages.
- conclude with a comprehensive understanding of health and safety in the construction industry
