Overview

This course is a gateway to supervisory roles in the dynamic hospitality and events industry. It will open doors to many exciting career opportunities. The advanced customer service expertise you’ll gain and hands on training you’ll receive will prepare you to provide first class experiences in hotels or restaurants.

Entry requirements

For this course you'll need:

  • a food and beverage service, hospitality or cookery qualification at Level 5
  • core skills at Level 5
  • a genuine interest in the hospitality industry

If you don’t have formal qualifications, but have appropriate experience or training, then we’ll also consider you for a place, so please do apply.

Course content

This course includes:

  • hands-on training: spend one day each week serving customers in our live training restaurant, Westerly
  • expert knowledge: acquire in-depth knowledge of both food and drinks so you can provide informed recommendations to customers
  • financial literacy: learn how to cost out recipes and events, a crucial skill for success in hospitality management
  • event management: plan and execute your very own event, putting your skills into practice
  • functions: participate in real functions such as business events or bespoke dinners, gaining exposure to the operational side of the industry
  • industry visits: explore renowned establishments like Trump Turnberry or Lochgreen House Hotel in Troon, broadening your industry perspective
  • masterclasses: take part in masterclasses led by local industry professionals, providing who will provide expertise to enrich your learning
  • employer insights: hear valuable tips from leading employers, successful venue owners and industry suppliers which will help you advance in hospitality
  • competitions: challenge yourself through competitions, from inter-campus events to the exciting Student Team Challenge.

You’ll also build essential, transferable skills in communication, numeracy, ICT, teamwork and problem solving which can be applied in all aspects of life, education and work.
