What's Involved?

SQL (Structured Query Language) is a programming language designed for managing and manipulating relational databases. It’s used by many organizations to manage their data and extract valuable insights. This course provides an introduction to SQL programming and covers the fundamentals of querying relational databases.

This course is suitable for those who want to learn the basics of SQL programming.

Note: Although a SQL Server is required for this course, these skills translate almost seamlessly with other SQL databases. This course focuses on the DML subset of SQL.

Course Content

  • Understand database architecture and different types of databases.
  • Understand the basics of database schemas and models.
  • Understand the different types of SQL statements.
  • Query databases to retrieve data.
  • Filter, sort, and aggregate data.
  • Understand and use different types of joins.
  • Understand different types of database constraints.
  • Understand database normalisation.
  • Understand basic date, number and string functions.
  • Understand the basics of database indexes.
  • Understand basic user management including how to create users.

  • SQL Server Developer Edition installed.
  • SSMS Installed.
