This course runs from 6.00pm-9.00pm for 35 weeks. These times include a period for shut down procedures at the end of the night.Overview
This advanced course builds upon your existing early years practitioner qualifications and experience, focusing on developing leadership skills, deepening your understanding of pedagogy, and critically examining the policies that shape childhood practice. This course prepares you for senior roles and leadership within the early years sector.
Entry Requirements
For entry to this course you’ll need:
- Currently hold an early years practitioners qualification as required by SSSC e.g. HNC Childhood Practice.
- At least two years experience as a practitioner or have a senior role.
- A satisfactory work reference
- Eligible to be a member of the PVG scheme
Course Content
Here’s just some of what you’ll be doing:
- You’ll investigate and demonstrate an understanding of the skills inherent in effective leadership, team working and collaborative working.
- Develop professional practice and understanding of theoretical concepts and pedagogy in early learning and childcare.
- You’ll develop a critical understanding of local, national and international policies and legal frameworks which impact on quality of good practices.
- You’ll engage in personal reflection for continued improvements.
This course maps to the National Occupational Standards and the Professional Childhood Practice Standards.
Careers and Further Study
Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll have the choice of:
- Progressing into senior practitioner roles, such as team leader, room leader, or deputy manager within early learning and childcare settings.
- Pursuing further study at a degree level in Childhood Practice, Education, or related fields.
- Taking on roles in policy development or training within the early years sector.
- Moving into roles that involve the management and oversight of early years services.
