Entry Requirements

A real interest in all aspect of Make-up Artistry.

Four National 5s or equivalent, ideally including English and Art & Design or a relevant SCQF Level 5 course such as Arts & Crafts or NC Hairdressing or equivalent.

To submit an application, completing all sections, including Personal Statement in full. NB we may notify you of the outcome by letter and/or invite you to attend an interview.

If you don’t have formal qualifications, but have life experience, then we’ll also consider you for a place.

Course Content

This course offers a great introduction to Make-up Artistry, giving you the chance to unleash your creativity in hair and make-up. It’s fun, fascinating and completely industry led, developing both your practical skills and technical knowledge.

Due to Make-up Artistry being such a fast-changing industry, our aim is always to ensure that your course develops the current skills and knowledge required for positive progression, therefore some of what you study on the course may change.

Here’s just some of what you may study:

You'll learn various forms of specialised of make-up artistry skills such as special effects and introduction into sculpting techniques. Fitting and colouring prosthetic pieces.

You'll learn creative body painting looks using a variety of techniques. Creating character make-up looks as required within the TV and theatre industry.

You'll may have the opportunity to participate in work experience within different venues to enhance your make-up and hair skills and start to network within your industry.

You'll have the opportunity to compete in 'in-house' competitions which could lead to competing in a national Make-up Artistry competition.

You’ll build transferable skills in meaningful contexts to help you become more effective in life, learning, and work.
