Overview

Have you always wanted to bake but unsure where to start? This course is suitable for learners with little/no baking experience or for anyone wanting to brush up their skills.

This 10-week course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to produce a variety of baked products.

You don't need any formal qualifications, just a container for your finished products, an apron to protect your clothing, a tea towel and appropriate footwear for the kitchen.

Course Content

You will bake a variety of goods from these different categories:

  • Powdered goods - scones, Scotch pancakes, Paris buns, raspberry buns
  • Yeast goods - brown and white breads, rolls, fermented buns, fruit bread, pizza
  • Cakes - Victoria sandwich, Swiss roll, fairy cakes, cupcakes
  • Puff pastry - sausage rolls, apple turnovers
  • Short/sweet short pastry - quiche, apple pie, empire biscuits, shortbread

You will receive the recipe and a demonstration on the night from our industry professional chef.

This is a fun, relaxed class and you will have the opportunity to ask plenty of questions to expand your knowledge.

On completion of this course, you will achieve the SQA unit: Craft Baking: An Introduction
