Entry Requirements

  • genuine interest in sport and fitness
  • two Graded Highers (A-C) OR a pass in a relevant NC course at SCQF Level 6
  • interview with us
  • membership in the PVG scheme  – the College will arrange this.

If you have no formal qualifications, but life experience, we'll consider you.

Course Content

Experience a dynamic blend of practical and theoretical learning:

  • sports development: investigate building sustainable sport projects within communities
  • human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics in sport: gain essential understanding of how the body functions and performs, along with how it can be trained
  • developing professional practice: tailor your coaching role for the best participant experience
  • sports coaching practitioner: develop a broad understanding of being a sports coach

 Upon successful completion, explore various paths, including:

  • progress to HND Year 2 Sports Coaching and Development
  • you may have the opportunity to pursue these career options: Active Schools Coordinator, Sport Development Officer, Sports Coach, Sport/Health Promotion Roles, or Primary/Secondary Teaching (following progression to degree and postgraduate study)
