If you are interested in Sport, Fitness and Physical Activity this course will be right up your street.
This introductory course will provide an initial insight into the main topics within Sport and Fitness.
There will be a mix of practical and theory activities allowing you to get a well rounded introduction to the area.
Entry Requirements
Ideally you would have some evidence of previous education success at SCQF Level 4 (National 4).
The main entry requirement is that you have a keen, current interest in the areas of Sport, Fitness and/or Physical Activity.
This will take the form of regular involvement or participation in on or more structured activities.
If you are unsure of these requirements please make an application and you will be provided with the chance to speak to one of the team to see if the course is right for you.
Course Content
- Employment Opportunities in Sport - where you will look at the various roles available for employment.
- Personal Fitness - focusing on proven methods for fitness improvement.
- An Introduction to Sport and Recreation - investigating the structure of sport and physical fitness and ways to develop sport in our communities.
- Sporting Activities: For example Badminton and Basketball
- Emergency First Aid
Careers and Further Study
The course is a good introduction to the subject area.
Successful completion and continued positive attitude and learner engagement can allow access to further study.
Most commonly learners will progress to the August Start NQ Level 5 Sport and Fitness course.
Skills
Along with subject specific skills you will also develop Meta-skills such as Focusing, Adapting, Communication, Adaptation, Leadership and Critical Thinking in a supporting learning environment.

You will have the chance to be involved in supporting local Sport Development events which allow us to develop our skills more widely.
