Overview

Start Date: September 2025. The British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 Course is designed for those who will already be able to use BSL for straightforward everyday communication. This National Unit (H3PA 11) is designed to further develop the skills of understanding and producing detailed language using BSL

What's Involved?

BSL is a skill which is very much in demand both in the public and private section including NHS staff, Police, Emergency Services, Teaching Staff, Nursery Workers, Support Staff, Social Work and many more.

The British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 Course (National Unit - H3PA 11) is designed for candidates to develop skills in British Sign Language (BSL) in a range of familiar personal/social and vocational/transactional contexts. Learners will further develop the skills of understanding and producing detailed language using BSL. Candidates undertaking this Unit will already be able to use BSL for straightforward everyday communication.

Candidates must have completed our British Sign Language - Level 1 (SCQF Level 4) prior to the start of this course.

Course Content

This course will develop your productive and receptive skills in British Sign Language (BSL) to a level which will allow you to communicate with some ease in a range of different situations including some key work tasks. This course will concentrate on the integration of these skills in a way that reflects their use in real life. Emphasis will be placed on the skills which develop your ability to organise and express ideas clearly.

On successful completion of the Unit the learner will be able to:

  • Communicate using detailed BSL
  • Understand detailed presentations in BSL.
  • Present information in BSL.

Candidates completing this Unit may wish to progress to the BSL Unit at SCQF level 6.
