Engineering Recruitment Fair 2026

Ayrshire College is hosting an Engineering Recruitment Fair on Thursday 22 January 2026.

Students and school pupils are invited to come along to meet with local engineering companies and find out about opportunities available in the sector.

This will be the fourth time we've hosted this exhibition type event at our Kilmarnock Campus. It's growing year on year, and we're expecting 20 plus companies to attend.

It's a great way for Ayrshire's young people to find out about a variety of engineering pathways, connect with industry and explore their next steps.

Ayrshire Precision

Ayrshire Precision Engineering Limited was founded in 1969 and is based at Low Coylton in South Ayrshire. The business was originally set up by 5 former employees of Scottish Aviation (subsequently British Aerospace) to manufacture component parts for the regional aircraft that were then manufactured then at Cumnock & Prestwick. Over the 56 years since the business was founded, we have manufactured machined parts for the Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Petrochemical, Nuclear, Food & Beverage as well as for general engineering sectors. The company currently has 25 employees with around one third of the current workforce having completed their apprenticeships here. We look forward to growing our business in the future with plans to increase our workforce through the employment of further apprentices and we are keen to highlight what we can offer to any potential engineers of the future through serving their apprenticeship with our company.

Emergency One

Emergency One (UK) Ltd. are the UKs largest manufacturer of fire and rescue appliances and currently employ over 250 people at our facility based in Cumnock, Ayrshire. As leaders of innovation within the industry, the company recently launched the world’s first fully electric fire engine, the E1 EV0.

GE Aerospace Caledonian

GE Aerospace Caledonian is based in Prestwick, Ayrshire. The site maintains, repairs, tests, and overhauls the GEnx High Bypass Turbofan engines which are installed on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Boeing 747-8 Jumbo Jet. The site overhauls around 200 engines per year and has a global customer base. The Caledonian site has been in operation since 1980.

NATS

Our Engineering Apprenticeship Programme offers a unique opportunity to train as an operational engineer at NATS. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with the advanced systems and equipment that support Air Traffic Controllers and our customers across the UK. These systems are located at our Air Traffic Control Centres in Swanwick and Prestwick, at airports, and at various remote sites nationwide. As an apprentice, you’ll follow a structured training and development programme designed to build your technical expertise and professional skills. You’ll take part in formal learning delivered by an external training provider, complemented by NATS’s own internal training pathway focused on Air Traffic Control Engineering.
