Photography students focus on professional exhibition

Ayrshire College’s photography students have showcased their work at a professional gallery exhibition in the Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine.

The ‘Focused’ exhibition featured a range of work from HND and HNC Photography students and was an opportunity to see the diverse and creative output they have developed.

The students, based at the Ayr Campus were initially inspired by a visit from local photographer Brian Craig, whose work featured in the 2018 Scottish Portrait Awards, who discussed at length the various elements to consider when presenting work to the public.

Brian assisted with the sequencing and installation of the show, and with the help of Arts and Fashion Technician, Linda Kerr, the work was printed and mounted. The opening night was a great success resulting in a large attendance of both the wider public as well as friends and family, celebrating the achievement of students in organising and presenting such a professional exhibition.

Art and Fashion Lecturer, Neil McKinnon said “It is a very proud moment for students and staff to participate in a professional gallery exhibition. Participating students' have made huge progress as practicing photographers. This photography exhibition has been a fantastic life experience for our students, improving both confidence and practical knowledge in relation to photography and the wider world."
