Students experience innovative digital training

Ayrshire College students benefitted from new digital skills workshops recently at the College’s Kilwinning Campus.

Delivered by ‘Technology Coaching’, who have partnered with Facebook to produce the innovative training sessions, Ayrshire College students were among the first students in Scotland to benefit from the program.

The programme is designed to support students to improve their existing or learn new skills to help them succeed professionally or personally in the digital economy and future digital workforce.

Students from across the curriculum in Health and Social Care, Computing, Early Years, Sport, Business and Hair and Beauty enjoyed interactive workshops including creating their own app. The workshops supported core skills, encouraging innovation, leadership, collaboration and team work.

Students received certification from Facebook at the end of the workshops. NC Administration student Mandy McCallum said “I was impressed with how informative the training was. It really helped make everything relevant and I was able to see how the new skills I learned would fit in with my college course and my future career”.

Essential Skills Lecturer, Brian Woolfson said “The students enjoyed finding out about some of the processes used by the world’s biggest companies, building their own apps and even getting some tips on how to market a business using social media. It was a pleasure welcoming ‘Technology Coaching’ and their team of world-class tech trainers in to the college and was brilliant to hear the students’ positive feedback”.
