Ayrshire College students raise £370 for Save the Children

Early Years students at Ayrshire College’s Kilmarnock Campus have donated £370 to charity after a week of Christmas fundraising.

Last week, the Ayrshire College students organised a number of fun events from their own homes, finishing up on Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 11 December.

The money - which will be donated to Save the Children - was raised through JustGiving after students held Lip Sync Battles, a ‘Guess the Elf’s Name’ raffle, learned to sign ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’ in British Sign Language, and uploaded photographs of themselves wearing Christmas jumpers and with ‘crazy Christmas hair’.

Lori Smallwood, Early Years lecturer at Ayrshire College, said: “I’m so proud of the amount our students have raised during the Christmas Fun Week. As well as raising vital funds, the students have also created stronger relationships within and between their class groups, which is an added bonus, especially due to blended learning this year.”

Donations can still be made towards the Christmas Jumper and Christmas Fun Week fundraiser here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cjd200016872.
