Over 80 students from Ayrshire College’s Ayr Campus were honoured for their hard work over the past year, at a ceremony held at the college.

The Excellence Awards celebrate students in non-advanced courses, with one student per class selected by their lecturers for special recognition.

The College’s Student Services department also nominated a student to receive their ‘Shining Star Award’, which was awarded to NC Sound Production student Deryn Brown, 18 from Ochiltree, for how well he has transitioned from school to college; growing in confidence and reaching a high level of independence.

Ayrshire College’s new Principal Carol Turnbull presented each student with a certificate to commemorate their achievement.

52 students were able to attend the event – with the other 31 students nominated receiving their awards at a later date.

Jack McCrindle, who will become Student President for 2019-20, said to all students: “Thank you for your hard work, dedication and tremendous achievements throughout the year.

“This is only the beginning for each of you and whether you are continuing your studies with Ayrshire College or moving onto new endeavours, we wish you every success.”
