Tuesday 25 November marked White Ribbon Day and the start of the global 16 Days of Action campaign, aimed at raising awareness of gender-based violence and promoting a culture of respect and safety.

The Construction Trades pre-apprenticeship groups have stepped up to show what living our values of respect and support truly means. Through hands-on activities, these students have joined the conversation, learned more about the issues surrounding abuse and harm, and committed to standing up against all forms of violence.

Adding a creative touch, Level 5 Painting and Decorating students used their signwriting skills to design and display powerful messages promoting the 16 Days campaign and raising awareness about violence against women.

Our Students’ Association also played a key role, hosting events across all campuses throughout the week to encourage discussion, share resources, and show solidarity with the campaign.

Cameron Bell, Head of Learning and Skills, Construction, Technology, Trades and Renewables said:

“It’s inspiring to see our students actively engaging with such an important campaign. Their creativity and commitment send a strong message that everyone has a role to play in ending gender-based violence.”

The initiative highlights the importance of education and engagement in creating safer communities. By participating, our learners are helping to break the silence and challenge harmful behaviours, reinforcing that everyone has a role to play in ending gender-based violence.
