As part of our ongoing commitment to bringing industry professionals into the classroom, we were delighted to welcome Maugé, a highly respected hair stylist with over 35 years of experience, to work with our Advanced Hair Colouring and Cutting Technician students.

Maugé began her career at Vidal Sassoon in Canada and now runs a successful salon in Glasgow’s Merchant City (Maugé Style). During her visit, she delivered an inspiring, hands-on session where she shared her career journey, demonstrated advanced techniques, and emphasised the importance of client consultation. Her session offered students a valuable insight into the creativity, precision, and professionalism expected in the industry.

“Consultation is everything,” Maugé explained, as she showcased advanced cutting and colouring techniques, highlighting the importance of understanding client needs and building trust.

Peggy Morgan, Curriculum Quality Manager for Creative, Hair, Beauty, Complementary Therapies and Makeup Artistry, said:

“Having someone of Maugé’s calibre in the room was a fantastic opportunity for our students to see what’s possible in this industry.”

Industry Collaboration

This session also complements our wider partnership with Wella, one of the leading names in professional haircare. Wella’s Scottish Field Educator is delivering additional training sessions focused on product knowledge and advanced colouring techniques, ensuring our students are learning with the latest tools and trends.

Together, these collaborations provide our learners with real-world expertise, exposure to industry innovation, and confidence-building experiences that prepare them for successful careers in hairdressing.
