Hospitality students invited for Afternoon Tea

Patisserie and Confectionery students from Ayrshire College’s Ayr Campus provided a special afternoon tea to celebrate the 70th year of the Ayr and District Blind Club.

Provost of South Ayrshire, Councillor Helen Moonie, hosted the celebration at South Ayrshire Council’s County Buildings, on behalf of the Blind Club, which is a local support group, offering practical and emotional support to its members.

The students were delighted to have been invited to provide the catering following a previous successful event, to help the members celebrate.

As well as preparing a selection of pastries, scones and sandwiches, and making their own jams and preserves for the afternoon tea, the students got the opportunity to meet the Provost.

Patisserie and Confectionery student, Ana Pecarski said “We had such fun making the patisserie products to a commercial standard and learning how to provide a professional outside-catering service.

It was great to make products for such a good cause and help them with them their celebration. We were overwhelmed with the positive feedback we received. “

Applications are now open for January 2020 courses in Professional Cookery and Cake Baking and Decorating.
