Angela Sheridan is the College’s Head of Learning and Skills for Hair, Beauty, Complementary Therapies and Make-up Artistry. She has agreed to write a guest blog for #mymentalhealthmatters month.

Starting a business was an idea that had been brewing in Stuart Pell’s head for a number of years. So this summer, with plenty of experience behind him in the hospitality sector (he has previously managed a couple of Ayrshire restaurants), he finally decided to ditch his advertising job and start a mobile coffee business.

Over half a million people in Scotland are thought to have dyslexia. With the right adjustments and support at college, this does not have to be a barrier to achieving your dream career. Ayrshire College has a Prince’s Trust Team programme which runs in Ayr, Kilmarnock and Kilwinning. As part of Police Scotland’s commitment to collaborative working with Ayrshire College and the Prince’s Trust, an officer was seconded to the programme in the role of Team-Leader, for an initial 12 week period in order to work with a group of young people.
